On Wednesday 8th February, Divine Child High School and Junior College were pleasantly surprised and excited with a special visit from the MIDC Fire Service Department. Our Principal invited them to display a mock drill and give the students and staff insights on various aspects of fire safety measures.
They explained the different causes of fire, steps of precautions to avoid a disastrous fire and effective procedures to extinguish fire. All present, benefitted by this presentation. The teachers and students realized the dedication, hardwork and focus involved in doing this selfless service. Risking their own lives, they are truly life savers!
The mock drill demonstration was remarkable. We are highly appreciative to the MIDC Fire Service Department for their acceptance to our request and are grateful for their valuable time spent with us to educate us. We hope that along with the lessons learnt at this drill, many of our students may be inspired to educate themselves further about fire safety and be drawn to offering their service to humanity in this field.

The Pre-Primary children of our school had a frolicking time on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd February on the school grounds – it was ‘Rock Sports Day’ for them. Experiencing this kind of sport in the school campus itself was a thrill for the children.
The Rocksporter volunteers led the children into different camp sports – Rock climbing, Burma Bridge walking, Magical Maze, Hop Scotch, Commando Net, Lazer Beam, Commando Crawl, Hamster Wheel, Double Rope Bridge. It was the works!!
The candy floss and popcorn machines too had a busy day to feed the children. They enjoyed the sandwiches made by their teachers as well. This was indeed a unique experience for the little ones who had a fun-filled day!

On Tuesday 3rd January, our school celebrated the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule. The assembly that day was conducted with prayers for the girl child’s right to education and women’s empowerment. In honour of Savitribai, a video was shown on her life. One of the student gave a speech on her and dressed like her too.
The students were given information about Savitribai – She was known as India’s ‘first female teacher’. Noticing the plight of women in our country, she was determined to change it for the better. She pioneered the education of women and backward class communities in our country. Along with her husband Jyotirao Phule, she started a school for girls in Pune.
Enlightened by this knowledge about her, the students realized the importance of education and to value it.
