15th October is the birth anniversary of scientist and former President of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam also known as ‘Missileman’ of India. Schools in Maharashtra state celebrate his birth anniversary as Vaachan Diwas (READING DAY).
The primary section students of Divine Child High School celebrated Reading Day. They were made to read from story books and text books. Teachers made them aware that reading is a must for every child to enrich their vocabulary.

We in India, commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October. This day is also celebrated as Swachh Bharat Diwas.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched by the Government of India to address problems of sanitation and waste management by ensuring hygiene across the country.
The young Primary students celebrated this day with the teachers by understanding various aspects of ‘Swachhata’. They were made to keep their home clean with the help of their parents.
Water Safety Day was also observed on the same day. The children were briefed about the essentials, importance and need of clean water to stay safe from diseases and the conservation of clean water to maintain good health.
The secondary students delivered speeches on the relevance of Gandhi in the present day world. The video of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the life story of Gandhi was presented to the students. Various competitions were also held –

Music is the universal language of mankind – Henry .W. Longfellow.
This universal language was spoken in Divine Child High School by almost 100 students who participated in English Singing Competition on 26th and 27th Sept 2020. The judges for the competition were Mr. Christopher Khan and Mr. Raul. D. Christopher. The contestants sang English songs of their choice and were judged in various criteria – tonal quality, rhythm, memory etc. Students showed exemplary performances and some new stars were born.

An English essay writing competition was held online through Google meet for the students of STD IX and X. The students were asked to write on a particular topic, click a picture of it and send it to the teacher. The essay was judged on the basis of the student’s vocabulary, presentation and creativity.
The purpose of the competition was to encourage the students to enhance their thinking and writing skills. The essays were well written by the students.

A virtual Teachers’ day celebration was conducted by the students on 5th September through Google meet. Students of each division organised a special program for their teachers.
The teachers were welcomed by the students and the programme commenced with the Divine Child prayer. Commemorating the birth anniversary of India’s late first Vice-President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, some students gave speeches on the Importance of teachers. A student briefly explained the prayer Guru Brahma and another recited a poetry dedicated to teachers. Some presented melodious songs and beautiful dance tributes. Students addressed the gathering by their insightful thoughts and shared memories of their inspiring teachers. Teachers sang songs on request by students and in turn, the students cheered the teachers. A beautifully designed Happy Teachers’ day poster was set as a profile picture by all students which made the teachers proud.
