Orientation – Teachers, Students, Supporting Staff

Orientation – Teachers, Students, Supporting Staff

The new scholastic year began with an Orientation Programme for the teaching staff on Wednesday 19th June. The resource speaker Rev. Dr. Ivon D’Almeida sfx, dealt with the need of the hour and led the assembly into a soul-searching session that dwelt on self-worth, self-dignity and a vision to view the world around in the same fashion. He shared that this enhances the teacher-student relationship and moves teaching from a profession to a vocation. He brought a freshness to the entire session not only with his discourse but also with a lot of meditative exercises that can help calm and sooth the body, mind and soul.
A session well accepted by all present.

Rev. Dr. Ivon D’Almeida sfx, also conducted the Orientation for the Std. X students on Thursday 20th & Friday 21st June. He helped them gauge study pressure in this critical year and how to control stress and better one’s concentration on studies. He taught them breathing exercises to relax and clear the mind. He spoke about training your mind to function as required.

At the Orientation for supporting staff on Friday 21st June, Rev. Dr. Ivon D’Almeida sfx spoke about commitment and loyalty to the institution and sincere hardwork.

All in all, a fruitful week for the Divine Child family.

Van Mahotsav… Festival of Trees

Van Mahotsav… Festival of Trees

The annual tree planting festival ‘Van Mahotsav’ in the month of July was initiated by Dr. K.M. Munshi, the then Union Minister for Agriculture & Food in 1950. This festival is a crusade to save Mother Earth and in actuality, a ‘festival of life’ because every tree planted is a hope of new life – healthy and happy!

The Divine Child High School staff and students celebrated this festival with enthusiasm. Every class, represented by the teacher and two students, planted a sapling. A poster and slogan competition on trees, was organized and the students passionately participated in the same. The school also had a sale of saplings in the campus.

It is the call of every human being to spread awareness about the value of trees and encourage tree plantation to beautify our environment, prevent global warming, reduce pollution and ‘save our lives!’
