Staff Orientation

An orientation programme was held for the staff on 15th June, 2015 in the school hall. It was conducted by Mr. Adrian an experienced educational speaker. Reflective questions were put forth in a playful manner emphasizing on the behavior of the students, thus helping to build a one-to-one rapport with them. All the teachers actively participated in the interactive discussions and their own childhood experiences as students.

On the whole it was a refreshing experience for all.

Teachers Day Report – 2015

5th September – A most awaited day for all the students as well as teachers. The celebration happened on the 4th of September beginning with a spiritually enhancing prayer service led by teacher Violet. The chief guest of the day was Mrs. Ingrid Pereira, our Silver Jubilarian teacher who has rendered undaunted service to our institution. Sr. Principal, Vice Principal, Supervisor Tr. Lucrecia, Trs. Swinnie, Beula & Theresa were participants in the prayer service.

The students felicitated their teachers with bouquets, cakes and a programme to follow. The teachers enjoyed the programme anchored by the Head Girl and the Assistant Head Girl. The programme was followed by a special mass evoking God’s blessing on all our teachers present, past and those who have left for their heavenly abode. This day will remain forever embedded in the minds of all.

Seminar cum workshop for parents of STD IX students.

On 26th June, 2015 a seminar cum workshop was conducted for the parents of Std. IX. Renowned homeopath Dr. Shekhar Algundgi addressed the parents along with his proficient colleagues. Dr. Algundgi’s team gave detailed lecture about children especially teenager psychology. The seminar ended with a vote of thanks.

REPORT ON PRIME MINISTER’S SPEECH ON TEACHERS DAY

At 8.00am on Friday 4th Sept 2015, the students of Divine Child High School & Junior College, Andheri (E), began the day by giving praise and thanks to God for the gift of our mentors and guides – our teachers. The hour long prayer service invoking the presence of God and His blessings on our teachers was followed by felicitation by the students of their respective teachers in the classrooms.

At 10.00am the students and teachers in each of the classrooms, were attuned to the monitor displaying the speech of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi and his interactions with students from schools in New Delhi and through satellite with students of other states, too.

The programme which lasted for almost 2 hours was interesting. He spoke about his experiences, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and the role of a teacher. The gist of his speech included requesting the HRD Ministry to replace the ritualistic exercise of awarding ‘Character Certificates’ with awards of ‘Aptitude Certificates’ to students; he asked the students to develop leadership qualities and not to get deterred by failure.

Tuberculosis Awareness Programme

On 6th July, 2015, Dr. Samshuddin Khan educated the students of Std. VIII on the causes, symptoms modes of transmission of TB, precautious to be taken and the different ways of treating it. A quiz was conducted to test then newly acquired knowledge and prize were awarded to those who did well.

Annual Prize Distribution Day 2015

This day has evolved into an Educational extravagance , featuring students from the Primary
up to Junior college level. It believes in instilling qualities, concentration, confidence and time
management. The chief guest Mr. Angelo David graced this occasion along with his wife Mrs. Julie David.
Students were applauded for their excellent academic performance for the previous academic year.
