Independence Day – 15th August 2016

With pride in our hearts, we saluted our country on the wake of its 70th Independence.
At 8.00am on this auspicious morning, the staff and students of Std. VIII assembled in the premises of Divine Child High School & Junior College and commenced the ceremony of hailing our country India. Our Vice-Principal, Supervisor, members of the staff and students warmly welcomed our Chief Guests Mr. & Mrs. Shetty & Mr. & Mrs. Kadam, the parents of our SSC toppers for the year 2015-16.
To commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, the Chief Guests unfurled the tricolor flag and all present there, stood in attention, singing the National Anthem in unison. Mrs. Shetty & Mrs. Kadam shared their views on the significance of the day. The senior students enthralled everyone with their well spoken speeches in Hindi, Marathi & English. The students sang Patriotic songs to our motherland. The Programme concluded with the Vote of thanks by our Vice-Principal Sr. Olivia.
Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect for our country where all Indians enjoy the freedom, peace and unity in our diversity.

Independence Day Celebrations
On Friday 12th August the institution of Divine Child was buzzing with excitement and activity.The students of Std. IV conducted a special assembly dedicated to our country and the feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary.
The Pre-primary children were all attired in traditional costumes. They were a pretty sight for the eyes.
The Secondary section had the house-wise Patriotic Singing Competition. The melodious voices, tunes and lyrics of the patriotic songs pulled at the heartstrings of all present there and re-awakened a feeling of patriotism.
Parents’ Day
To commemorate the feast of Saints Joachim and Anne(26th July), the remarkable parents of Mother Mary which is celebrated as ‘Parents Day’, Divine Child High School celebrated this invaluable gift of parents on Saturday 23rd July 2016.
As a sign of encouragement, progress certificates were handed over to students who showed marked improvement in the last academic year. Students put on an excellent entertaining programme of song and dance that pleased the parents immensely.
Folk Dance Competition
“Dance is a form of art that expresses joy or pain”
The Folk Dance Competition on Thursday 21st July was a tribute to the varied folk dances of our country.
The students of the Secondary Sections (juniors & seniors) enthusiastically exhibited their dancing talents by presenting folk dances from Kashmir, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bengal and Tamil Nadu. The colourful attire and apt props, the power-packed performances and giggly excitement – all spoke of a truly entertaining and delightful morning.
The stage at Divine Child High School came alive with the sound of music and tapping feet!! An absolute treat to the eyes!!!
Canteen Day July 2016
On the occasion of the feast of St. Maria Goretti (Green House Feast), a canteen day was held in the school where the children enjoyed chole- pav to satisfy their rumbling tummies.
The teachers and prefects helped in preparing and serving the food. It was a lip-smacking experience!!
