On the weekend of 27th and 28th January 2024, the campus of Divine Child High School and Junior College was abuzz with excitement… Of course! It was the Annual Day Celebrations!! This mega annual event is eagerly anticipated every year by parents, collaborators, benefactors and guests, to enjoy the super talent on display by students guided by their teachers and trainers. This year too was no exception. The thrill and enthusiasm was pulsating.
The prime theme for this year was ‘PEACE’ and all performances centered around it. The Primary Section & Junior College students presented “COLOURS OF PEACE: A Call To Nurture Nature”. The secondary students’ presentation was “PEACE MOSAIC: Piecing Together A Harmonious Planet”. The programme was augmented by the presentation of well performed skits – ‘Hope for the Earth’ by Primary Section; ‘The call of Nature’ by the Jr. College students; ‘Esther’ by the Secondary Section.
The entertainment for the two days was not only enjoyed by all, it also provided some food for thought.

On this International Yoga Day 21st June 2023, our celebrations in school took off on an enthusiastic start. For students to realize the invaluable gift of this ancient Indian tradition, our guest Yoga instructor Mrs. Novita Sequeira addressed the students stating the significance of the day and also spoke to them in detail about the different benefits and cures of yoga. She then led them in demonstrating different asanas – Tadasana, Padmasana, Paschimottanasana, Vajrasana, Pranayam, Anulom-Vilom, etc.
The teachers too encouraged students to make yoga a regular practice to maintain good health and fitness, reduce stress levels and improve concentration levels. They were also educated that yoga asanas build strength, flexibility, discipline, immunity and confidence.

Stepping out of the familiar on new journeys; embarking on new adventures; embracing new chapters… it’s all about a ‘FAREWELL’ of course! And though the excitement of it is all-consuming, also prevalent is the thought of separation that truly makes emotions run high.
The ‘FAREWELL’ for Std. X students witnessed a similar scenario on the 13th of February 2024 when they all assembled for their officially final day as a school student in the Divine Child High School & Junior College campus… this cocoon home which protected, nurtured and mothered them on their journey from caterpillars to becoming beautiful butterflies.
The School Hall aesthetically decorated by Std. IX students, displayed on the stage the theme – “GO, GROW, GLOW TO ENHANCE THE WORLD AROUND YOU AND WITHIN YOU”. The programme commenced with a Prayer Service conducted by the Class Teachers of Std. X. The speeches by our Principal Sr. Olivia Fernandes and Tr. Nita Upadhyay motivated and encouraged them. The Head Girl Sarah Cardoza expressed gratitude and appreciation to the school fraternity on behalf of her batch mates. The Entertainment Programme hosted by Tr. Fatima Parkar with the support of Tr. Joyce, Tr. Eureka and Tr. Violet, enlisted dances by Prefects and Std. IX students, songs, Spot Prizes, Games and the star event ‘MISS DIVINE CHILD’. The coveted title was won by Ms. Srishti Shetty; the 1st Runner-up was Ms. Yukta More; and the 2nd Runner-up was Ms. Sarah Qureshi. The programme ended on a high note with a Jam session, thoroughly enjoyed by all the students tapping their feet and grooving to the rhythm of the music.
The teachers blessed the students and wished them the best of everything in their future endeavours. It was definitely a nostalgic fun-filled day. Students bid adieu to their batch mates, hoping to meet again – somewhere, sometime!
