Principal’s Message
Good morning my dear Divine family and greetings on the occasion of our nation’s 75th Independence anniversary.![]()
Though celebrations for the day are restrained, nevertheless, it is an occasion to be proud of and rejoice. In the midst of the anxiety and struggles of these times, our nation celebrates the gift of our freedom martyrs. We gratefully reminisce their sacrifices which have warranted our life in an independent nation. Our phenomenal fighters envisioned a liberated and path-breaking nation and were totally committed to the cause of unfettering our Bharat Mata from the oppression of foreign rule. We proudly acclaim and salute them as our national heroes. Admiring their quest for equality and justice, may we in imitation make it our mantra too!
In recent times, the nation has also been blessed with many more national heroes… our Corona warriors! – Today, let us take a moment to salute our medical fraternity, many of whom have unfortunately lost their lives, saving others. Let’s also be grateful to our armed forces and police personnel, essential services personnel, and many other unsung heroes who have dedicatedly and selflessly continued to serve humanity during these difficult days. Their contribution has been indispensable and we are truly indebted to them all! We can proudly say that the spirit of patriotism and humane vibes abounds in our motherland.
Dear students, hopefully the essence of our freedom struggle and the principles exhibited by our gallant freedom pioneers, will live on through you – our future generation, so that we forge ahead with zest to strengthen the foundation of modern India. Today as we celebrate this momentous national event, we salute all our great freedom heroes who seized the moment to win the good fight for this nation. Let us commit ourselves that even in these apprehensive and anxious times, we will persevere to endorse and echo the values taught by them – that of oneness, courage and strength in times of adversity and contribute to building a nation worthy of their sacrifice.
Today has a dual significance for us because we also celebrate the feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Virgin Mary. She was a pure, sinless woman who was taken up into heaven body and soul. She is the Mother of God and our Mother. She is the Mediator between God and man and plays a special role of interceding with Jesus on our behalf. We are happy about the coincidence of our Independence Day with Feast of Assumption of Our Lady. The first one is symbolic of political liberation where we don’t just reminisce the freedom struggle of 1947 and its preceding years, but draw inspiration from the pages of those countless sacrifices, and pursue the same spirit of patriotism; the second one is a call for spiritual liberation of our soul from all that is sinful. As we pray for our motherland India, let us ask our Heavenly Mother Mary to intercede for us Indians that peace and brotherhood may make its home with us here.
Wishing you all a very patriotic Independence Day and a blessed feast of the Assumption of Our Lady.
Jai Hind – Mother Mary, pray for us!!
………..
No caste can divide us, no laws can separate us, no colours or creeds can decide our future because we are children of one mother.
Bharat Mata Ki Jai!
To mark this significant red-letter day, the teachers staying close to the vicinity of Divine Child High School, joined the Sisters in a flag hoisting ceremony at 8:00am in the school premises. The wet morning was certainly not a damper or hindrance to the spirit of the day. Tr. Violet welcomed the gathering and briefed them on the importance of the day. It was an honour to invite as Chief Guest our ex-Principal Sr. Matilda D’mello and Tr. Neomi had the pleasure of introducing her. Tr. Deanne welcomed her with a floral tribute. The Chief Guest accompanied by our Principal Sr. Olivia, hoisted the National Flag and the gathering saluted and respectfully sang our National Anthem with gusto. Sr. Matilda addressed the gathering by exhorting them to cherish the democratic ideals and reminded everyone of the sacrifices our martyrs made to bring freedom to our country and advised to serve the nation without counting the cost. Sr. Principal to addressed the gathering and gave a vote of thanks. Everyone dispersed with a positive energy in their hearts.
The students and teachers had a virtual celebration of our Independence Day on 13th and 14th August. Teachers conducted a Prayer Service and screened a slide show on the history of Independence Day. This was followed by reciting the Pledge and singing the National Anthem. The students dressed up like some of our freedom fighters. They also invoked a strong sense of Patriotism by their songs and expressed their love towards our country by participating wholeheartedly and enthusiastically in the Patriotic Singing Competition.
