Teachers Day was celebrated on 5th September 2022. A prayer service was held beginning with lighting the lamp and the students led everyone in prayer as they thanked God for the immense contribution teachers make to our society and nation.
Our silver jubilarians – Tr. Violet Fernandes, Tr. Minal Gonsalves and Tr. Sharon Gomes were felicitated by the Principal Sr. Olivia Fernandes on their landmark achievement. Std. X students took over the responsibility of looking after the classes, to express their gratitude to teachers. Mini celebrations were also held in each class.
The programme organized by students of the SSC, Jr. College & CBSE sections, brought out the essence of the theme ‘Our world is much brighter with you…’ It commenced with a prayer dance and then unfolded to lively dances, melodious singing, musical skit and exciting spot prizes and games. The teachers were ecstatic for the love and appreciation showered on them by their students.

Independence Day 2022 Celebrations
Yes, this year our nation celebrated its 76th Independence Day – 15th August 1947 being our first Independence Day.
And on this 75th Independence Anniversary, we at Divine Child High School had a galore of activities, events, competitions leading to our special day, as part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ –
- On 11th August 2022, we organized ‘Prabhat Pheri’ in the surrounding area of the school. The teachers accompanied students of Stds. IV & V as they performed loud and enthusiastic national slogans ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ which reverberated in the air and instilled a sense of patriotism in all.
- On 12th August 2022, the school resounded with the beautiful renditions of patriotic songs at the Patriotic Singing Competition.
- V & VI made beautiful, colourful Rakhis for 76th Independence Day.
- VII had a drawing competition on the topic of 76th Independence Day. Drawings depicted freedom fighters and our journey to freedom.
- IX penned their views on the 76th Independence Day in their essays.
- Rangoli competition was held for Stds. VII, VIII, IX. The creative and colourful Rangolis showcased the 76th Independence Day beautifully.
‘Twas an exciting few days preparing for our special day.
And then, the glorious 76th Independence Day dawned with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s words spoken in the year 1947, ringing in our ears and minds – “At the stroke of midnight when the world sleeps, India will awake to freedom”. Our chief guest Lion Saraswati Sankar was invited to hoist our Tricolour Flag and the singing of the National Anthem pulled at our patriotic heartstrings. The cultural events by the students created a feeling of unity and national integration. The inspiring speeches in English, Hindi and Marathi captured the audience. The atmosphere in the school was charged with the feeling of patriotism, unity and brotherhood.

The two categories of Junior and Senior students displayed their dancing talent at the Inter house Folk Dance Competition on 22nd July 2022. The vivacious dancers set the floor on fire with their energetic performances and kept everyone’s feet tap-tapping to their moves. The well synchronized, rhythmic performances were a reflection of excellent choreography, the students’ passion for dance and their hard work,

Vanamahotsav Day was celebrated on 15th July 2022. The assembly included messages and practical ways of ‘Reusing, Recycling and Reducing’. The day started with plantation of saplings followed by a poster making competition on Vanamahotsav for which the winners received certificates. Few students made rounds of corridors and classrooms shouting out nature-oriented slogans and holding posters showing how the environment can be saved. The ‘Best out of Waste’ competitive activity focussed on recycling waste.
A short programme directing the topic on how to practice the 3R rules ‘Reuse, Reduce & Recycle’ was organized. The Nature Club members of the school were present at this programme. It was attended by a dignitary from the Education Department. The ‘Best out of Waste’ activities were displayed on stage. The winners were felicitated with certificates. The English Elocution Competition held on the same day revolved around the topic of environment and social life. The winners of the competition received certificates.
All in all, a very fulfilling day.
