VANAMAHOTSAV DAY

VANAMAHOTSAV DAY

Vanamahotsav is a type of festival which is celebrated for tree plantation. It is organized every year in the month of July across India, when millions of trees are planted on this day.

In an earnest attempt to lend a green touch to the school environment and sensitize the students about their role in conserving it, Divine Child High School celebrates Vanamahotsav by planting small saplings in the school campus every year. But due to pandemic the students were given information about the importance of Vanamahotsav Day. Students were asked to present their views through drawings and paintings of nature. The celebration was an ideal opportunity to instill the value of social responsibility in the students towards safeguarding trees and forests.

YOGA DAY

YOGA DAY

International Yoga Day is celebrated by the students and teachers at Divine Child High School with great enthusiasm every year. This year International Yoga day ran with the theme ‘Yoga at Home, Yoga with Family’, and since the celebrations couldn’t be held the usual way due to the pandemic, it was streamed online on 22ndJune and 23rd June in our School. The objective of the day was to highlight the health-building and stress-relieving aspects of Yoga.

Students of grade IX and X demonstrated various asanas followed by Omkar chanting. Warm up exercises were taken and all the students performed sitting and standing asanas, importance of these were explained simultaneously. The celebration concluded with synchronized recitation of shloka. The teacher encouraged students to practice regular yoga to remain fitness and improve concentration. All the students were excited and energetic. Regular practice of yoga will surely help our students achieve a better life, physically, mentally and spiritually as well.

It was a great pleasure to include yoga day as a part of the syllabus in order to continue the invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

IMPORTANT NOTICE

And the whole world comes to a standstill!! So, is this, a blessing in disguise or a curse!

Sometime in the month of March 2020, World Health Organization (WHO) declared Novel Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) as a pandemic and pleaded with countries to take immediate and vital measures to control the outbreak of this disease. Our Country and especially our State is presently struggling to stabilize ourselves and we in the city of Mumbai are experiencing a shocking state of affairs! – a city that never sleeps, literally lays in a state of coma!

Dear Divine Family – Students, Parents, Teaching, Office & Supporting staff – This pandemic has turned tables on us at a very crucial time in our academic year. But, through all this, we need to pull ourselves together from this major upheaval, in the best interest of our students… keeping in mind, especially students of Std.9 and Std.11.

Since final exams are cancelled for students (SSC & HSC) this year, it is now decisive for the school to conduct tests, ONLY for students of Std.9 & Std.11, who do not meet the average requirement for passing and being promoted to the next level. These tests will be held when the school reopens.
Please note the following :-
STD. 9
Tests will be conducted in English, Maths & Science.

STD. 11
Tests will be conducted in all relevant subjects.

PLEASE NOTE – AGAIN!
The above tests are ONLY for those students of Std. 9 & Std. 11, whose total mark scoring (tests, projects, exam, etc.) through this academic year has not reached average passing level. So students, please use this lockdown / break time to start preparing for your tests.
However, NO tests will be held for any students of Pre-Primary Section, Primary Section and Secondary Std. 5 till Std.8.

Dear all… we have always complained that time constraints make it impossible to do things we like or to be with people who are important to us. So, please look at this time as a God sent opportunity to bond, build and bloom in your relationships at home. Cherish life, respect Mother Nature and groom yourself to be humble and grateful. We pray that all of you stay indoors, healthy and safe. Please take all necessary precautions as guided by the Government. And after this time of confinement, we hope to meet you all – revived and revitalized!

TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE

TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE

The 10th of December saw a new and refreshing venture for the Divine family. For the first time ever, we opened our portals to a section of people who are often looked upon differently and not too well accepted in society – the Transgenders.

Our special guests were welcomed with floral tribute and the programme organized for them began with the lighting of the traditional lamp and a prayer service. The carol singing, spot prizes and dance performances by our students brightened their day. Our guests shared with us their experiences of life and also appreciated our gesture of inviting them to our school.      They made visits to the classrooms to meet all students and interact with them. They were felicitated with gifts at the close of the programme.
