READING DAY

15th October is the birth anniversary of scientist and former President of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam also known as ‘Missileman’ of India. Schools in Maharashtra state celebrate his birth anniversary as Vaachan Diwas (READING DAY).

The primary section students of  Divine Child High School celebrated Reading Day. They were made to read from story books and text books. Teachers made them aware that reading is a must for every child to enrich their vocabulary.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

And the whole world comes to a standstill!! So, is this, a blessing in disguise or a curse!

Sometime in the month of March 2020, World Health Organization (WHO) declared Novel Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) as a pandemic and pleaded with countries to take immediate and vital measures to control the outbreak of this disease. Our Country and especially our State is presently struggling to stabilize ourselves and we in the city of Mumbai are experiencing a shocking state of affairs! – a city that never sleeps, literally lays in a state of coma!

Dear Divine Family – Students, Parents, Teaching, Office & Supporting staff – This pandemic has turned tables on us at a very crucial time in our academic year. But, through all this, we need to pull ourselves together from this major upheaval, in the best interest of our students… keeping in mind, especially students of Std.9 and Std.11.

Since final exams are cancelled for students (SSC & HSC) this year, it is now decisive for the school to conduct tests, ONLY for students of Std.9 & Std.11, who do not meet the average requirement for passing and being promoted to the next level. These tests will be held when the school reopens.
Please note the following :-
STD. 9
Tests will be conducted in English, Maths & Science.

STD. 11
Tests will be conducted in all relevant subjects.

PLEASE NOTE – AGAIN!
The above tests are ONLY for those students of Std. 9 & Std. 11, whose total mark scoring (tests, projects, exam, etc.) through this academic year has not reached average passing level. So students, please use this lockdown / break time to start preparing for your tests.
However, NO tests will be held for any students of Pre-Primary Section, Primary Section and Secondary Std. 5 till Std.8.

Dear all… we have always complained that time constraints make it impossible to do things we like or to be with people who are important to us. So, please look at this time as a God sent opportunity to bond, build and bloom in your relationships at home. Cherish life, respect Mother Nature and groom yourself to be humble and grateful. We pray that all of you stay indoors, healthy and safe. Please take all necessary precautions as guided by the Government. And after this time of confinement, we hope to meet you all – revived and revitalized!

GANDHI JAYANTI

We in India, commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October. This day is also celebrated as Swachh Bharat Diwas.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched by the Government of India to address problems of sanitation and waste management by ensuring hygiene across the country.
The young Primary students celebrated this day with the teachers by understanding various aspects of ‘Swachhata’. They were made to keep their home clean with the help of their parents.
Water Safety Day was also observed on the same day. The children were briefed about the essentials, importance and need of clean water to stay safe from diseases and the conservation of clean water to maintain good health.
The secondary students delivered speeches on the relevance of Gandhi in the present day world. The video of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the life story of Gandhi was presented to the students. Various competitions were also held –

BALSURAKSHA & POCSO ACT

It is imperative that children are under total protection so that they can survive, grow, learn and develop to their fullest potential. Millions of children deal with violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination on a daily basis.

In Divine Child High School, we took up such crucial and mandatory issues to educate our students in the form of discussions and important drills to deal with these situations. We formed a BALSURAKSHA committee and a POCSO committee on Friday 29th January 2021 to ensure that the children are safe and taken care of all their needs.

The Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO ACT 2012) was enacted to protect the children from offences of sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography with due regard for safe guarding the interest and wellbeing of children. As decided by the committee, on Monday 1st February 2021 we showed the students a video on ‘Komal ki kahani’ which dealt with the concept of good touch and bad touch. Images pertaining to the same were also shown and explained to the children. They were made aware of the bad touch and asked to inform their parents or teachers about it.
