Au revoir, dear Sr. Lawrencea

On Friday the 5th of April, we, the Divine Family (School, Junior College, CBSE, Polytechnic) bid adieu…

To a mentor and leader; a knowledgeable person who has directed this institution for the past 15 years with finesse and dedication; through who’s hands we have received many a blessing; an individual of varied skills; but above all, someone who has been less of a figurehead but rather a gentle woman much loved, appreciated and respected… a motherly figure to all in the Divine family – our dearest Principal Sr. Lawrencea. A soulful prayer service for her well-being and future successes in her endeavours was followed by an exciting and entertaining programme.

Touching and crossing our paths with small gestures of love, a tender look of understanding… Sr. Lawrencea has woven herself into the fabric of our lives. The seed in every student of living our motto “BORN FOR OTHERS” will grow and branch out beautifully because it has been nurtured by her loving touch. And through those years of getting to know and love each other, we didn’t realize then that we were creating memories to last a lifetime. And memories are not to let go off, because they are constant reminders of a great story written by the hand of God in our lives. What she has left behind is not engraved on the stones in this building but carved an indelible imprint into the hearts of all in the Divine family.

In this circle of life, as she moves on to say hello to new beginnings, the book of Jeremiah in the Holy Scriptures reminds her… “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God has committed a definite service – a mission to her.  Like a link in a chain, He will use her as a bond of connection between persons, entrusting her with this mission of love, to touch many more lives. Her modesty and simplicity will win over the hearts of the people she encounters in the place of her new assignment. And the God of our life’s journeys promises to hold her in the palm of His hand as she continues on the road of life, leaving her with a message from Holy Scripture… the epistle of St. Paul to the Ephesians “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.”

We place our dear Sr. Lawrencea into the hands of Our Heavenly Father who is ever-loving, compassionate and benevolent and ask for His blessings… that she may be sheltered in the mantle of His loving embrace and be blessed with sound health of mind and body, drawing strength and comfort from Him in times of trials and struggles to carry out her mission set by Him.

Our Prayer for her…
Patiently she mentored,
ShaRed wIsdom and cared
Gave support aNd adviCe
To all In despair
The staff and the Pupils
Will Always hold her dear
In our hearts she’lL stay, ever so near.

As she goes, dear Lord,
and takes along our prayers
Travel always by her side
As for her onward journey, she prepares.
May she continue to stay hopeful, as she follows her dream
And accept the happenings of life, as they seem
As You carry her, dear Lord
Through this journey of calm or strife
In fond remembrance, we will always celebrate the gift of her life.
AMEN.

READING DAY

The birth anniversary of our former President, Dr. A.P.J Kalam was celebrated today Tuesday 15th October in our school. In remembrance of our world famous ‘Missile Man of India’, we celebrate today as Reading Day to honour him and inspire the young generation to make reading a worthy habitual mode of education. Reading shapes character, enhances creativity and intelligence.

Dr. A.P.J. Kalam once said… Always keep reading because the person who doesn’t read when he can, is no different from the person who can’t read at all!

Absolutely true! Anytime is a good time for children and adults to get acquainted with books… so, this upcoming vacation, happy reading to one and all.

CANTEEN DAYS

It’s all about food… and compassion!
The saying – ‘The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’ rings true!

And the school inculcates, in the students, this virtue of compassion for the needy. Canteen Day is a unique way of generating funds for under-privileged students of the school. This monthly way of reaching out is fun and foody! Though it means a lot of work, it fosters bonding among students, teachers and helpers.

In the first semester we had Canteen Days…
In July – Std. X served chatpata ‘Chana Chaat’.
In August – Std. IX served lip-smacking ‘Pav Bhaji’.
In September – Std. V served yummy ‘Veg Noodles’.

AND THE TOPPER IS….!

Divine Child High School has been in high spirits from Saturday 8th June… and guess why??!!

The S.S.C. results were announced and with it came the most exceptional and marvellous news that the outstanding 1st ranker in Mumbai Division was one of our students… Miss Krisha Shah.

A courageous girl Krisha, facing the challenges of life persevered with sincerity and dedication and worked hard to achieve laurels for herself, her parents and her school.

Needless to say, the Divine family – Principal, Vice-Principal, staff and students are absolutely proud of her and as she steps out from the portals of her alma mater, we wish and pray that life offers her the very best it can.

Krisha… Go Girl!!!

Parents Day

Parents – You are our lifeline…
On Friday 26th July, the students of Divine Child conveyed just this message to them at the vibrant and enthusiastic performances they put up specially for them.

This day is the feast of Ss. Joaquim & Ann, the parents of our Blessed Mother Mary. They are honoured for being exemplary parents who raised their daughter to be pure and loving – a true child of God. And so, this day is celebrated as a feast of parents, in honour of them, to express our love for all that they do.
