The campus of Divine Child High School & Junior College bore a happy and excited look on Tuesday 1st October because the children were thrilled to have their grandparents come to school on the occasion of Elders Day.
The students prepared well to entertain the Elders with songs, dances, action songs, spot prizes, etc. On behalf of all students, one of them gave a speech of appreciation for the grandparents. Principal Sr. Olivia also greeted the Elders and respected and appreciated their contribution in being part of the children’s lives.
At the close of the programme, the Elders were given snacks and a small token of love.
Yoga is the art of disciplining self. It calms the physical, mental and spiritual anatomy of the being.
In celebration of International Yoga Day, Divine Child High School began the day with assembly prayer and were led into a meditation session by Rev. Dr. Ivon D’Almeida sfx ( TTC in Yoga).
This was followed by yoga exercises conducted during the day class-wise with the assistance of our Physical Training teachers. Students were explained the beneficial aspects of this form of physical fitness and were guided in performing different asanas.
Some students also participated in a Yoga Drawing Competition organized in the school. They beautifully depicted the advantages of yoga in their poster drawings.

The school hall of Divine Child High School & Junior College resounded with… “Dolly miss, we will miss you… we love you…”
It was a warm farewell that the staff and students of Divine Child family gave to our dear pious Tr. Dolly after 39 1/2 years of devoted service to this institution. The programme was a thoroughly enjoyable one.
A sincere farewell wish to Tr. Dolly… ‘For the dedication and hard work, you deserve the best retirement ever. Enjoy this new journey of your life and cherish every moment.’
The annual tree planting festival ‘Van Mahotsav’ in the month of July was initiated by Dr. K.M. Munshi, the then Union Minister for Agriculture & Food in 1950. This festival is a crusade to save Mother Earth and in actuality, a ‘festival of life’ because every tree planted is a hope of new life – healthy and happy!
The Divine Child High School staff and students celebrated this festival with enthusiasm. Every class, represented by the teacher and two students, planted a sapling. A poster and slogan competition on trees, was organized and the students passionately participated in the same. The school also had a sale of saplings in the campus.
It is the call of every human being to spread awareness about the value of trees and encourage tree plantation to beautify our environment, prevent global warming, reduce pollution and ‘save our lives!’
