Sports Day – 25th November 2016

‘Sports teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and to lose – it teaches you about LIFE.’ – Billie Jean King

The students of Divine Child High School and Junior College had this life-teaching day on 25th Nov 2016.

Competitive sports builds up vigor, vitality and brotherhood, of course!! The Divine family enjoyed a morning of togetherness, witnessing healthy competitive vying for the stage as the topper in various sporting events. The track and other events; the P.T. and self-defence display; the exciting teachers and parents sport – all coupled, raised the temperature in the arena of Holy Family Grounds, Chakala. The enthusiasm, cheering, laughter… made the Sports Day an absolutely happening event.

INTER SCHOOL SPORT COMPETITIONS – JUBILEE YEAR

As part of the ongoing jubilee celebrations at Divine Child High School and Junior College, an array of competitions were lined up during the months of August and September 2017. A ‘dekho aur mast maaje lo’ feeling for all viewers of this site.

INTER SCHOOL SPORT COMPETITIONS

Muhammad Ali the world’s greatest boxer so aptly puts it… “Champions aren’t made in the gym. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them – a desire, a dream, a vision.”

The scenario in the month of August 2017 at Divine Child Education Campus was a witness to this, as ‘Divine Strides’ took off and the students of various schools enthusiastically exhibited their flair at the games organized for them… be it basketball, kabaddi, chess or carrom – they were all champs!

Overall, the sport events were a major success and recreated the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play.

Reading Day – 14th October 2016

Undoubtedly, a matter of pride for Indians that the United Nations in the year 2010, declared the birth anniversary of our Late President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam as ‘World Students’ Day’. It was his love for the teaching profession and students in particular, that promoted it.

His birthday 15th October is marked as ‘Reading Day’ or ‘No Bag Day’ in schools and was celebrated in our school on Friday 14th October 2016.

The day began with regular prayer service followed by speeches given by our students Shirley D’Souza and Jessica Joby on the life and works of Dr. Kalam. The teachers in-charge not only highlighted the importance of reading but also presented a model reading for the students.

The students enjoyed the experience of reading books of their choice and interest and exchanged them with each other. Teachers encouraged the students to indulge in this thrilling and exciting pastime of reading.

A short clipping on a lecture inspiring students to learn, read and gain knowledge by A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was screened for the students.
