1st October – International Day for Elder People (World Elders Day)

‘The best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elder person’ – Andy Rooney

In the year 1990, the United Nations declared 1st October 2016 as ‘World Elders Day’.

Happy the home that is blessed with the presence of elders… and it is only right that we honour them wholeheartedly.

As is the practice every year, the students of Divine Child High School (SSC & CBSE sections) invited their grandparents to our school to bless and thank them for their love. The morning began with prayers invoking God’s blessings on the elders.

The elders were amused with the entertainment programme of song and dance put up by the students. They were also moved to hear students speak about grandparents.

Refreshments were served and a small token of appreciation was gifted to each grandparent.

The programme closed with the singing of the National Anthem.

BAL UTSAV 2016

“Without my children my house would be clean and my wallet would be full but my HEART would be empty”Anon.

None can challenge such a statement – rather, totally endorse! Isn’t it? We, at Divine Child High School & Junior College realize this emptiness at the close of school every year when the school corridors long for the happy tones of little children…

‘Bal Mela’ was a day set aside – Friday 22nd April 2016, when the portals of the school were filled with the excited sounds of less fortunate children in the age group of 3-12 years, from the close-by vicinity of the school. A day beginning with prayer, followed by amusement and merriment with lots of activities like drawing, & colouring, collage making, sporty games, etc. They were treated to a sumptuous and wholesome meal. The occasion concluded with giving take-away gift hampers to the little children.

They were thrilled and happy and carried away sweet memories of this day.

It definitely made their day… and ours too!!
