Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice that disciplines the human mind and body and is a holistic approach to good health and wellbeing.
On the morning of 21st June 2016, the students and teachers of Divine Child High School were prepared for a physically active day. At the school assembly, Mr. Puneet Rastogi, who has completed a 3 month certificate course from Lucknow and is presently pursuing a 1 year Teachers Training course from the world famous ‘The Yoga Institute’ in Santacruz, Mumbai gave the students a short synopsis on Yoga and its benefits. He informed the students that Yoga has its origin in our country India and is practiced over the ages. He imparted knowledge about Yoga as a form of exercise to attain self-peace through meditation and as a way to balance and stabilize the respiratory system, increase blood flow, reduce anxiety, build self-confidence and be totally energized. Also as a medium for cure from illness like stress, blood pressure, insomnia, digestive problems, etc.
After the assembly, the school hall was transformed into a sacred place of meditation as the students and teachers were led into various Yoga asanas by Mr. Puneet Rastogi.
Some of the various asanas conducted were –
Ek padasana; Vrksasana; Utkatasana; Tadasana; Padahastasana; Trikonasana; Parvatasana; Padmasana; Vajrasana; Paschimottanasana; Sukhasana; Anulom Vilom asana; Pranayama.
This physical practice procedure refreshed the mind, exercised body limbs and soothed the soul.

The very meaning of ‘Vanamahotsav’ is a festival of the forest… or put in a better way, a celebration of trees – a beautiful and essential part of nature.
Friday 1st July 2016 was ‘Vanamahotsav Day’ at Divine Child High School where the students celebrated this gift from the Creator through speeches and songs during the school assembly. They reminded themselves to treasure this precious gift which not only provides us with food but is also instrumental in saving our lives. Slogan and poster competitions were held in classrooms to speak in praise of trees and their benefits. Over 70 students from Std. V to X along with the staff happily participated in the tree plantation ceremony in the school campus where fruit, ornamental & flowering saplings were planted.
